Six young players, three days of futsal and another opportunity to make memories together—Braintree’s Under-9s are taking on the Squadra Futsal Kids Cup in Mouscron.
Braintree Futsal Club’s youngest European travellers arrived in Belgium on Friday, ready for a weekend of international futsal, new challenges and shared experiences.
Their adventure began early at London St Pancras, where the players and their families gathered before boarding the Eurostar to Lille. A minibus journey across the border then took them into Belgium—and towards the next chapter of their futsal journey.
Representing Braintree are Conor (goalkeeper), Reiss, Harry, Max, Ronnie and Beau: a close-knit group of six who have been preparing for this opportunity throughout the season.
Small squad, growing experience
For such young players, this is already their second European adventure with the club, following a trip to Italy in summer 2026.
Having spent several years developing together at Braintree, the boys bring more than their futsal skills to Mouscron. They bring friendships, trust and a bond built through training, matches and travelling together.
Now they have another opportunity to put that togetherness into practice against unfamiliar opponents, in a different country, on a European stage.
Three days of European futsal
The Squadra Futsal Kids Cup brings together ten teams from Belgium, France and England.
Braintree are delighted to be joined by their friends from City of Peterborough Futsal Centre and West Yorkshire, with all three clubs making the journey from England.
The schedule gives the boys plenty to look forward to:
- Friday: three group fixtures, including a meeting with Peterborough. - Saturday: three further fixtures as the competition continues. - Sunday: semi-finals and finals for teams that progress.
Six scheduled matches across the opening two days offer valuable competitive minutes and opportunities for every member of the squad to contribute.

Taking in the tournament atmosphere in Belgium.
More than the scoreline
Braintree travel to compete, challenge themselves and pursue success. But for this young group, the value of the weekend stretches well beyond the results.
European tours offer opportunities to build confidence, strengthen friendships and learn how to handle new situations together.
Full-size futsal courts, crowds, unfamiliar opponents and different approaches to refereeing all ask players to adapt. Each experience gives them something to take back into training and their next match.
There will be nerves as well as excitement, difficult moments alongside celebrations. Learning to support a teammate, respond to a setback and enjoy a shared success is part of the journey.
For the families watching from the sidelines, those moments matter just as much as the goals.

Making memories together away from the court.
Six players, one shared adventure
Conor, Reiss, Harry, Max, Ronnie and Beau have worked hard to prepare for this weekend. Now their challenge is to embrace it: play with confidence, look after one another and enjoy representing their club.
Whatever the tournament brings, the boys will return with more experience, stronger friendships and stories to share.
We’ll follow their progress across the club’s social media channels, with a full round-up of their Belgian adventure to come on the website.
Come on, Braintree! 💙
